Samer inherited tailoring from his father, tailor Jamal Hussein Al-Amouri, who inherited it from his father Hussein Hasan Al-Amouri.
Family stories trace this craft back through generations to the Moroccan ancestor of the family, who moved from Morocco to Jerusalem during the era of Salah ad-Din.
That ancestor practiced tailoring in Jerusalem and is believed to have inherited the craft from earlier generations who lived in Andalusia, now Spain.
This makes Samer's tailoring knowledge rooted, rare, and deeply connected to family history.
Samer passed the craft on to his children, Saqer Al-Amouri and Maram Al-Amouri. Maram is studying fashion design in Italy, while Saqer chose to practice the craft directly based on what he learned from his father.
Samer founded Samer Jamal Tailoring in 2002 in Tla' Al-Ali, opening a new chapter after working in the family shop founded in 1951.
